SIMA Image Awards 2011

We’ve just got word that the KS10 campaign for Quiksilver won Men’s Marketing campaign of the year last night at the SIMA Image Awards. We’re absolutely thrilled to have come out on top against some great campaigns from Nixon, Hurley, Billabong, and Volcom. Standard Time created the Social Media, Broadcast, and online advertising for the campaign.

Standard Time/ Party Time

On August 16th, Standard Time and neighbors Comma Music, Nomad Editorial, and No 6 Music threw the soiree of the summer season, our second annual summer block party!

Each agency created a signature drink. Standard Time’s drink of choice? A vodka-soaked watermelon, pineapple and lime cocktail with a rim of Mexican Chili. Strategist Suzy Mattay created the curious concoction, which turned out to be the hit of the party. Que rico!

Brooklyn based rockers Darwin Deez opened the night, surprising the crowd with their catchy-dance rock grooves, getting everyone into the mood and ushering the sun to set. French Horn Rebellion came on next providing the crowd with electro-dance beats that had everyone moving, until our surprise guest arrived: Grammy Award Winning artist Jody Watley. who stunned the crowd with a heart-racing rendition of her hit song “Real Love.”

The beverage free flow was sopped up by local food truck Dogtown Dogs, a gourmet hotdog vendor who also offered up a neverending supply of irresistible nacho cheese covered tater tots. Totchos. Who knew? Later in the night, the Surf Taco truck pulled up, and a wave of hungry revelers swarmed to the truck like piranhas on a chunk of flesh. Nature is terrifying in her beauty.

Truly, this has been the most successful party we’ve thrown yet. Delicious food was eaten, embarrassing photos were taken and many drinks drunk – and we managed to raise over $900 for the charity MusiCares.

To our neighbors and guests who attended, thank you. To everyone who missed it, there’s always next year!

New Work – Seneca Rising Fall 2011

Seneca Rising is a Los Angeles clothing line inspired by a girly tomboy aesthetic, both tough and delicate. In preparation for the launch of their fall line, Standard Time created a look book and video titled Sunset Junction.

Sunset Junction tells the story of a young woman’s first few days in Los Angeles, living out of her car and making her way around the lonesome Hollywood boulevards. We brought in photographer Danielle Levitt, whose distinctive photographic style capturing street fashion, pop culture, and celebrity helped realize the urban-beauty aesthetic that makes Seneca Rising’s fall collection such a standout.

To authenticate the story’s gritty feel, Account Planner Suzy Mattay donated the services of her road tested, vintage Volvo – lovingly referred to as “the Prop House*”.
